School of Materials Engineering
School of Materials Engineering is
located in the beautiful campus of Yancheng Institute of
Technology in Yingbin Avenue. The school was founded in
1979, with a long history, abundant qualified teachers and
excellent teaching and scientific research, and has become
the one of most dynamic and competitive colleges. There are
four departments including inorganic non-metallic materials
engineering, metallic materials engineering, polymer
materials and engineering and traffic engineering. The
inorganic non-metallic materials engineering is one of the
first batch of higher engineering specialist teaching
professional pilot reform approved by State Board of
Education, and was awarded the provincial-level professional
characteristics of Jiangsu Province. The school has a
provincial key laboratory, key laboratory for
ecological-environment materials of Jiangsu Province, which
identified as the special traffic engineering laboratory by
Jiangsu Provincial Communications Department.
The school has 52 teachers, including 9 professors, 18
associate professors, 11 doctors and 23 masters, which is
one of the people who got State Department special
allowance, one of the academic leaders for Jiangsu
Provincial ‘Qing Lan Project’, 9 part-time master’s tutors.
The teaching staff has vigor, vitality, reasonable structure
and bright prospects.
School actively carries out research and teaching reform,
and has assumed 3 provincial-level teaching reform projects,
has got the second prize of Jiangsu outstanding teaching
achievement award twice and 4 provincial quality courses.
Personnel training is clearly targeted at senior engineering
and technical personnel on the application. The pass rate of
CET4, CET6 and the graduate exam has been among the best.
The employment rate stabilized at around 99 percent. The
School offers opportunities for study in the fields of
ceramic processes, polymer processes, casting and
solidification of metals, and properties, corrosion,
composite material processing and properties,
hydrometallurgy and physical metallurgy, and environmental
School has 14 laboratories such as materials physics lab,
materials chemistry lab, materials preparation lab and
mechanics of materials lab, etc. The laboratories have many
advanced large-scale equipments, including environmental
scanning electron microscopy and spectroscopy, X-ray
diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray
fluorescence spectrometer, thermal analysis instrument, etc.
In recent years, the school has a strong research record
that assumed 13 provincial-level research Projects including
2 subtopics of “973” State Basic Research Projects, 3
Provincial Natural Science Foundation, etc. More than 200
papers were published, and 40 papers of them were recorded
by SCI, EI and ISTP.
The school emphasizes the academic exchanges and
cooperation. Three teachers went to the United States and
Canada as senior visiting scholars. The good cooperation and
exchange relationship has been established with the
University of Western Ontario and the University of Waterloo
